Annual Jubilee print trophy

Thursday 5th November was not just bonfire night! It was also a night for MKCPS to host the annual Jubilee Trophy Print Competition!

This contest has been running 2012, where entries are invited from the members of ten local clubs. In the end, we had over 100 prints submitted from 36 entrants from 7 of the 10 clubs

It was a very closely fought competition and quite a task for the judge (Peter Prosser CPAGB APAGB from Watford CC) to agonise over. Peter worked through all of the prints (providing a critique for each) during the first half of the evening. Images that struck a chord were held back for further deliberation in the second half.

The prints were whittled down to just a handful, at which point he awarded "Commended", "Highly Commended", then first, second and third place.

Congratulations go to Belinda Wilson from Ampthill & District CC who took the trophy with her overall winning print entitled "The Delinquent".

In second place, was Cliff Harvey from Bedford CC with "Hypnotic Eyes"

Third place was David Manning from Leighton Buzzard PC with "The Happy Rambler"

The following prints received a "Highly commended" award

  • Paul Wilson from Ampthill & District CC with "Echoes of the Forties"

  • Paul Wilson from Ampthill & District CC with "Roll Call"

  • Jamie White from Milton Keynes City PS with "Seilebost"

  • Tim Gould from Leighton Buzzard PC with "Early Light on Parkhouse Hill"

and the following received a "Commended" award

  • Steve McGill from Towcester & District PS with "It takes two to tango"

  • Sally Kitchingman from Leighton Buzzard PC with "Dance written in smoke"

  • David Manning from Leighton Buzzard PC with "Welcome to the Machine"

MKCPS would like to thank all participants from the local clubs who entered, we look forward to next year!

The critique section of the evening. Peter examines the print and provides a critique. Those that really stood out to him were added to a pile for a more detailed judging in the second half of the evening

After the first half, the audience were invited to grab a cuppa (and perhaps a cheeky biscuit!) and examine the held back prints for themselves.

The second half of the evening was particularly difficult for Peter. It was really hard to cut the held images down

After managing to cut down further, we’re left with the final 10 images. At this point, Peter chose his “Highly Commended” and “Commended” awards

Just the final 3 prints to choose from, which one will be third, second and first?
