Practical Evening - 20th Oct 2022

Theme : Freeze Frame/Slow Frame

Due to unforeseen circumstance we have a change to the original plan (Street Photography practical).

Instead, this week we're going to look at the power of flash and its ability to freeze a subject, as well as showing down our shutter speed to give the impression of motion.

We’ll be experimenting with a "PLUTO" trigger
We'll also try longer shutter speeds to get motion blur.
Finally, we'll be looking at the importance of finding the correct depth of field during this tabletop practical exercise at the hall

Useful equipment for the evening

  • Tripod

  • Camera

  • Macro/Closeup lens (ideally, but not neccesary)

  • Flashgun/speedlight if you have one (again, ideally, but not neccesary as I have some spares)

If anyone has a small empty fishtank please bring it along! We can try some freezeframes of things dropping into water as well.

p.s. if you have an Olympus camera below, please take a look at Pro Capture in preparation for the evening

Workshop/Discussion - Printing - 13-Oct-2022

Mark Buckley-Sharp ARPS(Hon) CPAGB HonPAGB and Judy Buckley-Sharp LRPS(Hon) CPAGB APAGB are delighted to present to you an illustrated workshop discussion

Our main purpose is to get you talking about printing: with us and between yourselves.

We start with some trade processed prints, and continue with our own chemical and digital prints. We cover mounts, spotting / cloning and colour balance; amongst other topics.

The discussion continues with examples of some pairs of prints produced in different ways, followed by a discussion of printer profiling and types of paper. We finish with some of our recent work.

Like nearly all photographers, we now print digitally. Due to the variety of digital imaging software in use, the workshop cannot give extensive guidance on image processing.

The club doors will open at 1930. Lecture to start by 2000.
